Kidsmart (SIP072)
A project that tested and evaluated the suitability of the Young Explorer Early Learning Centre in Irish schools. This was developed out of an IBM initiative in the US entitled KidSmart Early Learning Programme.

Project Aims
  • To investigate the viability of using the Young Explorer Early Learning Centre to support early childhood educators through the meaningful use of new technologies in a child-oriented way.
  • To evaluate the suitability of the Young Explorer Early Learning Centre for use with young children in Irish schools.
  • To investigate the effectiveness of using the Young Explorer Early Learning Centre with students with special needs.
Indicative Outcomes
  • Evaluation of the viability of using the Young Explorer Early Learning Centre in Irish schools.
  • Information about the effectiveness of using the Young Explorer Early Learning Centre with special needs students.
  • Production of a case study by participating teachers which includes details of the project's use and application.
