Classroom of the Future (SIP036)
Examining the impact of broadband Internet access on learning and teaching within primary and post-primary schools, this project involved students and teachers undertaking curriculum-related activities that placed heavy emphasis on the technologies being investigated.

Project Aims
  • To expose teachers and pupils to the Web and email for teaching and learning.
  • To develop proficiency in searching, finding, selecting, assessing, presenting, sharing and publishing information on the Web.
  • To deploy the technology to manage the project.
  • To develop and evaluate a series of curriculum initiatives that will exploit email, videoconferencing and the Internet as teaching and learning tools.
  • Indicative Outcomes
  • All partners to document their experiences of the project to aid further schools meet their developing requirements.
  • Development of replicable curriculum initiatives that exploit the potential of email, videoconferencing and the Internet as teaching and learning tools.
  • Participating students and staff to have considerable exposure and access to the Internet.
  • Development and dissemination of examples of good practice in education.
  • Development of Web-based resources to help schools deal with various technical and pedagogic issues that arise in using ICT in the classroom.
  • The participating technology partners to demonstrate remote training and support capabilities arising from the deployment of the technology.
