Technology Awareness Programme in Schools (TAPS) (SIP077)
TAPS has linked education with local industry in the development of a technology awareness training package for young people. Part of the YouthStart initiative, its main aim is to improve youth training and employment opportunities particularly in disadvantaged areas.

  • To create an awareness of technology careers.
  • To increase the skills pool available to employers.
  • To counter educational disadvantage in the community.
  • To encourage further economic development in the area.
  • Indicative Outcomes
  • The development of schools-industry partnerships.
  • The delivery of ICT training courses to teachers.
  • The establishment of a website aimed at 12-16 year old students with information on technology education courses, college life, student life, technology careers and technology employers.
