Programming in Java for TY Students (SIP080)
By introducing Java programming to TY students, this project intends to test the feasibility of introducing Java as a module in a more comprehensive computer course for Senior Cycle students.

Project Aims
 
  • Increase links with third level college, TRBDI.
  • To investigate the possibility of using this program in an effort to develop a cohesive program for senior cycle computing.
  • To provide opportunities for students to work in information technology/computers.
  • To enable students to write simple programs in Java and thus develop a programming methodology.
  • To empower teachers to share the knowledge acquired with other classes.
  • Indicative Outcomes
     
  • Students and staff to gain an awareness of modern IT systems.
  • Students to become active learners rather than passive listeners.
  • Students to compile their own programmes.
  • Skills to be developed in teamwork and project completion.
  • Potential employers to value students' experience with new technology.
