Other : Funnels, Plastic Tubing, Electrical Tape, Stopwatch and Cardboard Tubes.

Introduction


Organisation of class:
Class group as unit except for experts (group Work) + Laptop (4 groups)

1. Refer to 'Heart' chart:
Description of heart - a pump, made of muscle, the size of a fist, situated between the lungs;
Made of muscular walls;
Four
heart chambers: Right + Left Atrium (blood from body pumped to lungs to get O2. Right + Left Ventricle blood pumped from lungs to other parts of the body).

2. Explain the word Circulation:
What is a Vein / Artery / Capillary Valve / Aorta / Venae Cavae?
96,000 kms. of vessels, enough to circle the Earth almost 21/2 times.

3. Composition of Blood
a) Plasma - yellowish, clear liquid b) Blood cells
(I) Red blood cells carry O2 through the body and helps get rid of CO2
(II) White blood cells help protect the body against infections and diseases
(III) Platelets help your cuts etc. to heal.

4. Blood Types A / B / AB / O
Donations and blood transfusions.
Haemophiliacs and clotting.

5. Effect of exercise on pulse:
describe experiment to speed up your pulse and measurement in 15 seconds
No. X 4 = 1 minute Human pulse = 70 beats per minute Mouse = 500 and Elephant = 25
