which explores the extent to which an integrated approach to the
teaching of I.C.T. can enhance the learning process and motivation
of primary school pupils across all subjects of the curriculum.
This project aimed
to provide one laptop between every four pupils so as to ensure
quality access for all pupils. Laptop computers were selected
for their portability particularly in the classroom situation.
It was hoped that through
the findings of this project, primary school teachers would be
encouraged to explore the uses of content-free software including
word processing, multimedia packages (e.g. Powerpoint and Hyperstudio
) and internet and e-mail access, thus enabling them to more fully
integrate ICT into all aspects of classroom work.
