School Project N.S. won first prize in the Dun Laoghaire/Rathdown Environmental
Awards. Both schools put much work and effort into this competition. Here is an account
the children of Cappabue wrote.
Carving with Anthony
On
the 25th of May Anna, Celina, Jeremiah and Mary went to Anthony’s
house to help him carve the bench for the school. We started off by practicing
carving on a piece of spare wood then Anthony brought out two children he had
already started making.
We
helped him finish them by smoothing the wood with sandpaper and we finished off
the carving. We sanded two planks of wood. Anthony then went and got the back
for the bench he had already made and it was time to start assembling it.
We
got two planks of wood and put them resting between the two children we then got
the back which had ‘Cappabue’ carved into it and stuck it behind them. It
was time to go back to school.
Then
on Friday the 26th Anthony brought the bench to the school and we put
it in the layby outside the school.
