"The Marine" is a cross-curricular, environmental project. Students from St. Mary's National School, Ballygunner, Waterford explored their local marine environment, the seashore, water safety, birdlife, maritime history, the fishing industry, lobsters, boat building, ship wrecks, tallships, commercial shipping, ports and maritime literature. Classes 3rd through 6th participated in the project during the school year 2000-01. Information and communication techologies were used throughout the project as its operational basis. The "Marine Project" was sponsored by the National Centre for Technology in Education and Eircom.
