Wordshark
I find that you can
only use this package as a standalone. When the package was
bought for the school it was sent as a standalone plus network.
We have tried to install it on the network (NTServer 4) but
it does not work.
Installing Wordshark
- Insert CD.
- Click on Start.
- Click on Run.
- Type d:\setup in
the box (assuming your CD drive is D).
- Click on OK.
- If you already have
a Shark group of icons, wordshark will be added to it,
otherwise a dialog box appears asking if you want the
icons in a new group, called Shark.
- Click on OK.
- At the end of the
installation, the Shark group will be on display. You
can also access it by clicking on Start, selecting programs,
and then finding the Shark group in the list. It is possible
to drag the icons onto the desktop for ease of access.
To record your own speech for your own word lists you
can run using windows explorer.
- On the first occasion,
copy the files "Shark record" and "Model" from the root
directory of
the CD into your working directory (C:\shark).
- Now you can run
Shark Record from C:\shark.
- Change "Group1"
to the name of the group of private word lists, e.g. c:\shark\mygroup,
and click OK.
- You can choose whether
you are presented with only unrecorded words or with all
words.
- You can also type
over the given word and press enter to record any other
word.
To record (or re-record) a word, click on the "record"
button. Speak immediately and click on the "record" again
as soon as you have finished.
